There is a very small percentage of people born without an immune system, but why do so many of us feel like we need that bubble.
Any preliminary google search will tell you that experts agree that allergies, both environmental and food based are on the rise. The debate is focused on why. This is an incredibly complex situation with variables in the from of genetics, sanitation, vaccination, farming practices, food preparation, and environmental exposure just to name a few.
Let me boil it down to the basics so you can do your best to attack allergies head on!
Contrast this to the little girl. Early on she ate dirt, got exposed to a rich variation of allergens and bacteria. Her immune system used these interactions to develop lifelong immunity to many of the things she was exposed to. 10 years later she can go outside, pet a dog and smell the roses without her body going into emergency shut down trying to keep out the "harmful contaminants".
Food related allergies are also increasing. Many people know someone who is gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian/ vegan or alters their diet to stay healthier. Our grandparents did not have to do this. What happened?
Our food supply here in America is bought and paid for by Monsanto. Our farmers are locked in. They’re buying GMO seeds from Monsanto, and the food crops that grow from those seeds are supposed to be resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup, so that’s what they spray on the crops. But the weeds aren’t resistant. They spread and they grow taller. They’re taking over.So they go to a strategy called “burndown,” which is just as bad as it sounds. They use something a lot stronger than Roundup to kill those weeds: Paraquat, for example, which has been banned in 32 countries. They drench their fields with it in the fall. Kill anything growing. And drench the fields again in the spring, before planting time. Then, just as they’re going to plant, they hit the fields a third time with the poison. This is in addition to all the sprayings with Roundup, which is toxic, too.
Then they harvest the crops and sell them. And consumers eat the food along with all the poison.
Very similar stories for the meat and dairy industries, but it all comes down to the fact our food is not clean. It's poisoned and biochemically altered beyond what our bodies can tolerate. We become allergic to it because it is no longer recognized by the body as food. Other countries that care about health more than profits are cleaning up their food supplies or keeping them clean in the first place. Here in the land of the free our only option is to know your source. That means literally knowing the guy who grows your wheat, vegetables, pigs, cows, chickens etc... and hopefully he does it the old fashioned way like grandma and grandpa used to enjoy.
Beyond that there are blood tests available that can help you determine which foods you are eating that are causing the most damage to your body and limit them.
The following link is to the testing center we use at our office.
Or of course you can always just build yourself a giant plastic bubble and grow your own food.
